Unexceptional States of America

I love this article, titled  "Unexceptionalism: A Primer" by E. L. DOCTOROW published: April 28, 2012 in the New York Times , because it so clearly articulates how the US has fallen from being the goal to which other nations aspire to become a warning unto others.

I also love the sentence "Create mental states of maladaptive populism among the citizenry to support this view.". That one sentence explains so well why poor people in the US vote against their better interest by supporting Republicans.
