I have a peculiar dislike to exaggeration and hyperbole. In particular there are a phrases that really get my goat.
For instance the word "unthinkable" is very irritating when applied, as it often is, to TV or movie plots - i.e. "he did the unthinkable". If it really was unthinkable, how could some underpaid script writer have come up with it in the first place.
Another one is "beyond imagination". For instance "Avatar takes us to a spectacular world beyond imagination". Once again, if it really was beyond imagination, the the writer couldn't have envisioned it in the first place.
Bloody marketing copywriters.
