What it doesn't mention is this - having been a kid at the time I read Calvin & Hobbes with my dad and totally identified with it - maybe because I was a intelligent hyperactive and imaginative child with few close friends. Now, I have kids of my own, and I again identify with it as a father of a son who will probably be all the above - but with more close friends.
